At BarsByBanks, we believe in elevating the community by providing creative, inclusive, and responsible bartending services. Since 2020, our team has been on a bit of a sustainability journey, both personally and professionally, discovering how businesses like ours can positively impact our community and the planet. So, let’s discuss how our mobile bartending service can provide sustainable and socially responsible options for your events.
Bar setup
In our basic package, we include disposable cups, straws and napkins. That’s how it’s done in the mobile bartending world because disposable items are easy on the wallet, convenient, and hygienic. But they come at a cost. Plastic straws only get used once and then pollute our waterways and hurt our marine life. Plastic cups are thrown out after each drink and go straight into a landfill. Paper napkins, made from cutting down trees, are also used once and thrown in the trash.
The good news is that we don’t have to include them in your package. There are environmentally responsible alternatives including reusable straws, cloth or recycled napkins, and reusable glassware. There might be some added costs, but it’s worth it for the planet. Hopefully one day we can kick disposables to the curb for good.
Sustainable Sips
When you book an event with us, we partner with you to create your drink menu. You provide the alcohol. We respect your freedom to choose the products and services that best suit your budget, needs, and preferences, but we can help you find alternatives that align with your values and make a positive impact on people and the planet.
We can create delicious mocktails and alcohol-free beverages if you have guests who don’t drink. If you want to support Black-owned businesses, we made a guide to help you find Black-owned spirit brands. We also made a guide to help you find USDA-certified organic and non-GMO alcohol brands so we can serve up cocktails for your guests with less synthetic chemicals. If you want to support local businesses, we can incorporate the alcohol you purchase from your local distilleries, breweries and wineries in the Atlanta area in your drink menu.
We provide basic mixers including orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, soda, and tonic. But you can provide any specialty mixers including organic and non-GMO mixers and we’ll serve them to your guests.
We provide basic garnishes including lemons, limes and cherries. They’re nice to look at and customary with drinks, but they can generate unnecessary waste, especially if they are not consumed by you and your guests. When we’re planning your drink menu, we can leave garnishes off to reduce waste. You are also free to provide any specialty garnishes you want.
